Limit Extension Visibility

The extension is enabled by default but can be disabled at the organization, project, or user level using Azure DevOps preview flags. This enables project specific enablement or exclusion and provides users with the ability to opt out.

How to Use Feature Flags

  1. In Azure DevOps (ADO), click on "User Settings" in the upper right next to your profile button.
  2. Select "Preview features"
  3. In the dropdown, select the scope that you wish to modify: organization, current project, user.
    • You can only modify settings for scopes that you're an admin for
    • To edit a different project, go to that project in ADO first
  4. Find the extension related features you wish to disable and use the toggle to turn them off.

ADO should now be updated to hide or show the extension as configured. You may need to refresh to reflect your changes.

FAQ

Why can I not enable this for myself when it is turned off?
If an organization or project admin has disabled the extension, users cannot override this or turn it back on.

Why can I not enable/disable this at the project or organization level?
This is only available to users with admin permissions for that scope.

Why do I not see all projects listed in the dropdown?
The dropdown only shows your active project. To change the configuration on another project, first navigate to that project in ADO and then open the settings again.

As an organization or project admin, can I manage access at the user level?
The extension currently does not offer user specific access control. This is being evaluated for a future release.
