Understanding Costs

​​The GPT-4 model operates on a token-based pricing system:
         1. Input Tokens: $0.03 per 1,000 tokens.
         2. Output Tokens: $0.06 per 1,000 tokens.

Tokens are units of text (1 token ≈ ¾ of a word - on average), where both the information you send (input) and the responses generated by the model (output) contribute to the overall cost.

Example Cost Breakdown

Let’s look at an example to give you a better understanding of costs:

        1. User Story: On average, processing a single user story involves around 1,600 input tokens and around                            1,200 output tokens. This results in a cost of approximately $0.10 per user story.

        2. Feature: A typical feature requires fewer input tokens but more output tokens, with an average cost of                            $0.01 per feature.

Estimated Costs for Common Workloads

Processing 500 user stories and 100 features would cost approximately $6. This cost covers both input and output token usage, offering significant value compared to manual time spent managing these tasks.
